Writing Burnout: Things You Didn’t Know

It happens. With me, it usually happens after I’ve made some sort of push with a project–in this case, finishing Deshay of the Woods and starting the querying process. Don’t worry, though. To the one or two fans out there (thanks, Mom!), I’m not taking a break or anything, just taking a breather…and there is a difference, I swear.

So, instead of writing about writing, here are some true facts you probably didn’t know:

• Your stomach needs to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks or it will digest itself.
• The dot over the letter “i” is called a tittle.
• Sherlock Holmes NEVER said, “Elementary, my dear Watson.”
• Because metal was scarce, the Oscars given out during World War II were made of wood.
• Bruce Lee was so fast that they actually had to slow film down so you could see his moves, which is opposite of the norm.
• The original name for butterfly was flutterby.
• The phrase “rule of thumb” is derived from an old English law which stated you couldn’t beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.
• Charlie Chaplin once won third prize in a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest.
• The Guinness Book of Records holds the record for being the book most often stolen from public libraries.
